Music to Moving Image

The above video is all about getting woken up, lots of movement and crazy devices, and I tried to convey this through the music. Firstly the alarm at the beginning of the video, which tarts everything off is written into the piece of music, it actually sets the tempo. I have also used several instruments to make the video seem more silly, mainly the offbeat banjo you can hear and the xylophone, as well as the percussion I use. Rather than using a normal percussion instrument, I decided to use sound effects to make it, specifically ones labelled under “Comedy Effects”.

I have also tried to accent different parts in the video, a good example being about ¼ the way through, where Grommit is poked with a robo hand, all instrumentation drops out except the one instrument on one note poking in time with the hand. Another way is when they go down the slides, it gets quieter as the alarms go away and the area they're in appears larger, the bass line drops out except for a drone note, most of the other strings fade away, leaving only the woodwind playing above the drone. I also intended for this to create some tension, as you're not really sure what'll happen next.

This tension however is broken when Wallace and Grommit are catapulted in the air, then a fast paced bass line joins in, and then when they land all the previous instruments join in again, first in unison, then splitting into the same parts as before, along with the fast bass line. It is in this way that I’m giving the video energy: there is constant movement in at least one line at all times.
